DirecTV Now Adds Two New Channels

DirectTV Now added Aspire TV and Up Family TV, so I added them to the Go Big lineup.

I also went through all the lineups and made some minor corrections here and there.

Still working on adding OTA and OTT channels…

Jump To Feature Update!

I received a nicely written email from “Lori” that had some really good feedback about the new “Jump To” feature, so I made a couple of quick updates.
First is that while 4 hour blocks makes the list a bit longer, it just works better than 6 hour blocks since the grid displays 4 hour blocks,
so changed from 12:00/6:00 slots to 12:00/4:00/8:00 slots.
Also, due to the placement of the drop down being so close to the header that expands/collapses the panel,
it is easy to click that instead which causes the panel to collapse, then reload back at the current time.
I expect this might happen a lot especially on smaller touch screen devices, so removed the “click” from the panel header
and enabled it on just the lineup name, and also to an indicator to the right.
The lineup name is still fairly close to the drop down, but hopefully enough space to prevent too many accidental clicks.

03/17/2018 20:00Z

New Feature – Jump To!

Added another new feature that has been requested a few times.
In the lineup panel date/time rows where the date used to be is now a list you can pick a date/time to “jump to”.
This can be useful for example when it is early in the day and you would like to see what is on in the evening or later in the week.
Now you can do that without having to click to “arrows” a bunch of times.
I chose 6 hour increments (12am, 6am, 12pm, 6pm) to keep the list from getting too long.
Also changed the arrows to move ahead/back in 1 hour increments instead of 4 hours.
Next on the list is are some enhancements to the Search feature…

03/15/2018 04:00Z

New Feature – Channel Details!

Finally added a feature that I have wanted for a while.
You can now click on a channel logo and get a listing of all the programs by day for that channel.
Next on the list is a “Jump To” feature on the lineups to quickly change the date/time…

Philo, Fubo, Hulu, and YouTube Lineups Removed from StreamingTVGuides.com

In case you haven’t read my About page, I am just a software developer that originally built this site for my own use as a hobby site and decided to share it.
This is not my full time job, and I have very little spare time to work on the site.
It seems that adding so many of the newer services is creating more requests/complaints than I have ever received prior to adding them.
Sorry to those of you that liked those lineups and didn’t have issues with them,
perhaps I will add them back after they have had some time to stablize their lineups,
and I have been able to work on some new features for the site overall.

“Screen Scraping” Listings Data

It came to my attention this morning that some Kodi developers have been developing and distributing scripts called “scrapers” that steal the data from my site to feed their EPGs.

Looks they they deleted their thread, here is a cached copy:

https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=326998

As this is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of using this website, I have already taken some action to prevent this and plan to do more if I see it continue.

YouTube TV adds several channels!

It seems that YouTube TV is getting quite popular as I have received several emails that they have added some new channels.

Here is a good article about the updates:

https://techcrunch.com/2018/02/14/youtube-tv-raises-pricing-expands-with-turner-nba-mlb-additions/

Also, another email mentioned that they used “Suppose” to find the best provider for them which looks like a great resource (Thanks John!)

https://www.suppose.tv/tv

Lastly, I should be launching a new version of the site within a few weeks that will look mostly the same, but have a few new features and also National Broadcast channels (like NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX), so please stay tuned!

01/27/2018 19:30Z

StreamingTVGuides.com adds fuboTV!

I have had a couple of requests to add fuboTV, but have just been too busy.
Finally took some time this morning to put together most of the lineup, but am still working on the multiple sports channels.

Cryptocurrency Mining Experiment Results

After 30 hours of the cryptocurrency mining experiment, the site earned about $1 worth of coin
so definately not a viable way to help pay for the site. For now, ads seem to be the best way to
keep the site going, so thanks to all you visit the advertisers!
The only other interesting outcome of the experiment was that out of the thousands of people
who enjoy using the site, only one sent me feedback regarding the experiment.
However, it was also so over-the-top, they seem to be an “outlier”.
If your browser is still showing a hash rate, it means the page has been cached.
Usually a CTRL-F5 refresh will fix that up.

Cryptocurrency Mining added to StreamingTVGuides.com

Just as an experiment for this weekend, I have added a javascript based cryptocurrency miner to the site that will borrow a little of your CPU cycles while you are browsing the site.
If it works out well, it could be a replacement for the ads.
You can see the “hashes per second” that you are contributing in the footer area, and should not notice any major performance impact to your computer.
Please contact me if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc…
Thanks for your support!

PlayStation Vue adds CBS Sports Network and Universal Kids Channels

I saw the following article that says PlayStation Vue added a couple of new channels.
The first is the CBS Sports Network that they say was added to Core and above, but
I was unable to confirm that on PS Vue’s web site. In addition, the article says
Universal Kids is a brand new channel, but per my previous update it was formerly
the Sprout channel just re-branded. I do see that channel listed on Elite and above.

DirecTV Now Adds Two New Channels

I read this article back in April that DirecTV Now was going to get two new channels in the next few weeks.
These networks are One America News Network (OAN), a cable news channel, and A Wealth of Entertainment (AWE).
Now I heard (Thanks John!) that the channels have finally showed up so have updated the site accordingly.

I saw that Sling TV has a new add-on package called “Heartland Extra” with six new channels, and also eight SHOWTIME channels, so have updated the site accordingly.

STARZ Channels Added to DirecTV NOW

I got a heads up (Thanks Kim!) that DirecTV NOW has added 3 STARZ channels today.
Looking into it more, I found that it is Starz, Starz Encore, and Starz Kids & Family for an extra $8 per month,
so I have put them in the “Add-On Channels” panel at the bottom with the other add-ons.

“My Favorites” Feature Added!

I have added a new feature under the Lineups menu called “My Favorites” that will display your favorite channels in a single panel.
Just head on over to the Preferences area to select your favorites.
Also, if you happen to use this site on multiple devies, I created a way to share preferences between devices.
This way you only need to set up your favorites one time, and not on each device.
Check the bottom of the preferences page for a link containing your preferences key, which you can copy/paste and email to yourself, then just click it on the other device.

As always any feedback or bug reports are appreciated! Contact StreamingTVGuides.com

Happy New Year!!!

DirecTV NOW Lineup Corrections

I have made a few corrections to the DirecTV NOW lineups, removing some channels that didn’t belong like GAC and WGN,
and also adding some that were missing like the multiple HBO channels.
I really appreciate the emails that pointed out the discrepancies, so if you see anything else please let me know!

DirecTV NOW Lineups Added to StreamingTVGuides.com!

AT&T launched their new DirecTV NOW streaming TV service today and I signed up right away, locking in the deal on the “Go Big” package.
I think the on-screen guide is a lot better than the other 2 providers, but still like having a second screen option so have added their lineups here.
Still need to fix up some of the channel logos, but will get to that tomorrow.

Check out DirecTVNow.com Here

Viacom Channels Removed From PlayStation Vue Lineups

Per the recent Sony announcement, the following Viacom channels have been removed from the PlayStation Vue lineups:

ACCESS TIER ELITE TIER
MTV MTV Live
MTV2 MTV Classic
Nickelodeon MTVU
Nick Jr. Logo TV
Nicktoons NickMusic
VH1 CMT Music
Comedy Central BET Gospel
Spike BET Jams
TV Land BET Soul
BET Centric
CMT

It also appears that the new NBA TV channel is only available on the Core and above lineups, so I have removed it from Access lineup.

11/09/2016 15:30Z

PlayStation Vue Lineup Changes

According to the articles linked below, it looks like PlayStation Vue has added a couple of channels, but are losing all the Viacom channels! They have added BBC America and NBA TV channels, but it isn’t clear to me at what level so I included them in all the Vue lineups (although I’m not seeing them yet with my Access Slim plan). The Viacom channels are going away Nov. 11th, and seems like kind of big deal since it is over 20 channels.

Site Updated to MVC Framework!

As mentioned in the About page, I work on this site in my spare time to try to keep my “font-end” programming skills up-to-date.
As such, I have just finished converting the site from an ASP.NET WebForms application, to an MVC application.
There aren’t many things visually noticeable by such a conversion, other than the web page addresses no longer end in “.aspx”,
so I included a couple new features also!
There is a slightly redesigned navbar with icons to try to make the Preferences more noticeable.
I also made it so that the channel logo column stays fixed when scrolling the programs on narrower width screens. Hope you enjoy!

Sling TV Adds 3 More Channels

It looks like Sling TV added some more channels to their lineups.
More details are available at the links below.
The “Sling Kids” is on-demand only, and it seems that “Cheddar” is a live streaming service, so neither of those will be added here.
However, “The Blaze” appears to be a cable channel that I can get data for, so it has been added the the “News Extra” (formerly “World News Extra”) for both Orange and Blue lineups.

Game Show Network, AXS TV, and HD NET Movies added to Sling TV!

I got a heads up today (thanks Brooke!) that Sling TV added GSN, AXS TV, and HD NET Movies channels to their lineups, so I have updated the site accordingly.

On-Demand Only Channels

I have had a couple of emails regarding the FXX and Nat Geo Wild channels on Sling Blue are Video On-Demand and not live programming.
So I have updated the guide to just show On-Demand for those channels and also NBC, ABC and FOX on PS Vue.
Thanks for emails!

TURVI TV

I saw an article on CordCuttersNews.com about a new streaming TV service coming out soon called TURVI TV.
Apparently they will offer local channels, DVR, 5 streams, and a 10 channel a la carte package.
Also says there is no free trial, but you can save the $50 activation fee if you pre-register to be notified of when they launch.

TURVI TV’s web site

And of course, I will be looking to add their lineups once they launch.
However, that will be depedent on another new feature I am working on where you will be able to create custom lineups. 🙂

NFL Network and NFL RedZone added to Sling Blue Lineups!

Sorry for the Down Time!

I went to update the program listings and somehow crashed the site.
Turned out it was due to MTV taking over VH1 Classic, and my data provider changed the call signs.
I will probably need to go find new logo icons now too…ugh!
Of course this was news to me: MTV Classic Launch
Sorry about that!

Favorite Theme Survey

Did you know the site’s color scheme can be changed under “Theme” in “Preferences”?

(gear icon in upper right corner Preferences)

According to the site analytics, it seems that the “Slate” theme is the most popular.
Slate was originally my favorite theme, which is why I chose it for the default, but now I use Cyborg Inverse most of the time.

I have created a quick survey using SurveyMonkey.com for you to vote for your favorite here:

Favorite Theme Survey

Another reason for the survey is for us to gauge audience interest with the site’s development.
We have several new features on the to-do list, but have limited resources and would like to implement the highest demanded new feature next.
If we see a good response to this survey, we will run another one listing the new features to vote for.
So please take a minute and get involved.

Thank You!

East vs. West Programming

I have finally addressed an issue when there is different programming on certain channels at the same hour based on East vs. West coast.
There were two channels in Sling Orange lineup that specifically have been fixed, the Disney Channel and Cartoon Network, and most of the channels in the PlayStation Vue lineups.
If you have selected Central or Eastern as your preferred time zone, you will get the East coast programming, otherwise you will get the “Pacific” versions.
Please let me know if you notice there are other channels in any of the lineups that still have this issue.

Fixed Time Zone Picker Bug

I was notified today that the Time Zone picker in the Preferences did not seem to be making any effect (Thanks Bob B!).
Sure enough, it looks like I introduced a bug a couple of updates ago when I implemented some output caching on the back-end.
The intention of the Time Zone picker is so that no matter where you are in the world, nor what time zone setting is on your computer,
the hours headers should display in the time that you have selected in the preferences.
If they are not, please let me know! (contact)

07/10/2016 11:00Z

Updated PlayStation Vue Core and Elite Lineup Panels

I made a small change in the way the PlayStation Vue Core and Elite lineups are displayed.
Originally, those panels displayed just the channels that were in addition to the lower package.
Now, the Core and Elite will display all the channels in one panel.
Because of this change, I also renamed the “Providers” menu to “Lineups” and they can be found there now.

07/07/2016

Added Sling TV “News Extra” Lineup!

I received a request today to display the news channels (Thanks Peter D!), so I have added the “News Extra” panel to the Orange and Blue lineups.
Please let me know (contact) if you notice anything wrong!

06/30/2016

Updated Sling TV “Orange” and “Blue” Lineups

I saw that Sling TV announced their new Orange and Blue services today.
So I have updated the channel lineups again, and also the Providers menu with the Orange, Blue, and Orange + Blue lineups!
I also made another small change to sort the channels alphabetically within the panels.
Any feedback is appreciated as is any error reports. Thanks!

06/23/2016

Added Big Ten Network to PlayStation Vue – Core Slim Lineup

I saw there was another post on the PlayStation Vue forum that requested that I add the Big Ten Network to the Core Slim lineup (Thanks ltbeeb233!).
I also finished updating all the channel logo icons. It takes me 10 times longer to do those little icons than to update the code!

06/22/2016

Added PlayStation Vue – Core Slim and Elite Slim Lineups

I noticed some site traffic coming from a PlayStation Vue forum today due to someone making mention of it there (Thanks CigarTriGuy!).
So I got inspired to finally do the updates that add the Core Slim and Elite Slim lineups.
The Core Slim panel shows the channels that are in addition to the Access Slim, and the Elite Slim panel shows the channels that are in addition to those.
Still working on updating the channel logo icons.
As always, any feedback is appreciated as is any verification help since I only have the Access Slim package.

06/21/2016

Updated Sling TV Multi-Stream Best of Live TV Lineup

Added some more missing channels (Comedy Central, FXX, FS2 and NatGeo Wild) to the Sling TV Multi-Stream Best of Live TV Lineup.
Was also notified that the Outside Channel is also showing up, but I was unable to verify this. Is anybody else seeing that?

06/15/2016

Realigned Sling TV Lineups

Added the “Comedy Plus Extra” lineup, along with the new channels (Comedy Central, BET, Nick Jr., NickToons, TeenNick, MTV, Spike, MTV2, LOGO, CMT, TV Land and VH1) to their respective lineups.
Also, moved the Sling TV Multi-Stream under the Providers menu to display its lineups separate from the Single-Stream.
I am no longer a subscriber of Sling TV, so can’t verify if everything is correct now.
So please let me know (contact) if you notice anything wrong.
Soon, I will be adding the “Broadcast Extra”, or a “Local Broadcasting” panel for those who use streaming along with an HDTV antenna (like me).

05/04/2016

Added FS1 to Sling TV – BETA MULTI-STREAM Lineup

Was notified today (Thanks Mike!) that the Sling TV – BETA MULTI-STREAM lineup was missing the FS1 channel.
Oops! Not sure how I missed that. Thanks for catching it and letting me know!

04/27/2016

Added Sling TV – BETA MULTI-STREAM Lineup

Per request (Thanks Lionel!) I just finished adding the Sling TV – BETA MULTI-STREAM lineup.
I am not a subscriber of that package, so can’t verify it is correct. Please let me know if you notice anything wrong.
Soon I will add another preference setting for your preferred lineup.

04/23/2016

Added PlayStation Vue Channel Logo Icons

I just finished adding the channel logo icons that were missing from the PlayStation Vue – Access Slim lineup. Next items on
my to-do list are to add the other PV lineups (Core, Elite, and Premium Channels), and also to make the channel column freeze when scrolling.

04/22/2016

Added a “favicon”

In my rush to launch the new site, I forgot to create a new “Favicon“.
It is kind of hard to find one that seems applicable, so I settled on this simple table-grid icon which is included in Font Awesome
and should look pretty good across several devices:

SlingTVGuide.com has been re-designed and re-launched as StreamingTVGuides.com!

After many hours climbing the learning curve of modern web programming, I am proud to launch the site re-design!
Not only should it look much better on different device screen sizes, but you also now have over 12 themes to choose from.
You can check them out and pick your preference here, or by clicking the gear icon in the upper right.
I have also added the PlayStation Vue “Access Slim” lineup, and will be adding the “Core Slim” and “Access Slim” lineups soon.
You can select your preferred provider under the Providers menu.

Site Instability!

I am getting ready to launch the site re-design which I decided to purchase a new domain name and transfer to a new host.
My old host got confused and suspended my domains, also while I was at the cinema watching 10 Cloverfield Lane last night.
I have everything up and running on the new host now, and there shouldn’t be any more hiccups. 🙂

      1. It’s been working fine lately. I am using iOS beta, so it can be quirky. Didn’t see your reply until today. Thank you for providing this app.

Is it possible to add the OTA networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) as add-on channels for the different providers? I understand that they may not actually provide those networks and the other local channels. It would be a convenience for cord-cutters that use OTA as well.

Thanks again for what you do. ?

  1. Hello
I’s sure you do receive some criticism but I must tell you that you provide a very valuable service here and I wanted to let you know! People are hard to please! I don’t quite understand why anyone thinks that the internet is all free and that people owe them something! I wanted to take the time to let you know how much I enjoy this site and how I use it so that you may find a way to provide a service that people pay you for!

As you know there are many cord cutting streamers out there now and most of them need a simple TV guide. Most streaming boxes such as the Nvidia Shield (My choice) run on the Android OS. So my thought to you is why don’t you provide a simple apk app to grab info from your data and charge $24 dollars a year for the service?? I think you would be shocked at how many people would sign up!

Just to let you know I am using a vpn and sudo name but the email is good! Thanks again for the great job and service you provide!

    1. This site provides listings that are provided to it. This site has nothing to do with any streaming provider. I find this free service an invaluable asset. Your argument is with Sling, not these people.
