Linka receives a letter about a mysterious sickness spreading through her hometown and the Planeteers head there to investigate; overcome with concern for her town and her ailing grandmother, Linka gives up her ring and leaves the team.

The Planeteers argue over what ecological issue to focus on, but Gaia assigns the team to stop Sly Sludge from dumping toxic waste into a salt mine; when Sludge traps them inside the mine, Ma-Ti shares an inspiring story to bring the team together.
